How to make Split Pea Soup?

Place smoked turkey wings into big pot with 8-10 cups of water, bring it to a boil and cook on medium heat for 30-40 minutes.

Remove the turkey wings and cut them into bite size pieces then return it back to the pot.

Add saute bacon and onion to the pot with cubed potatoes, bay leaves, salt and pepper.

How to make Instant Pot Split Pea Soup?

First, turn it ON on saute mode then addbacon pieces and saute for 5 minutes, stirring few times.

Next, add onion and saute for 5-10 minutes or until onion is soft. Transfer to a plate.

Pour 8 cups of water into the Instant Pot and add smoked turkey wings. Cover the lid & place steam valve in a sealing position,and cook on high pressure or SOUP/BROTH mode for about 15 minutes.

Quick Release the Pressure. Transfer turkey wings on to a cutting board and cut the meat into bite size pieces, then return it back into the pot. Add 1 cup of split peas, 3 cups of potatoes, 2-3 bay leaves and one cubed carrot.

Cover the lid & place steam valve in a sealing position,and cook on high pressure or SOUP/BROTH mode for another 15 minutes.

  • 6 strips bacon cut into small pieces
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 1 cup yellow split peas washed
  • 3 cups potato cubed
  • 1 carrot cubed or grated
  • 2 bay leaves
  • salt & pepper to taste
  • fresh dill chopped

How to make Split Pea Soup on the Stove?
